Endoscopy Services

With increasing pressure in life, many people have the habit of being sedentary, often skipping meals, eating foods lacking in nutrients, and abusing stimulants that are harmful to the digestive system such as alcohol, leading to digestive diseases.

According to 2022 statistics from the National Institute of Nutrition, up to 10% of Vietnam’s population suffers from digestive diseases. At the same time, other digestive cancers also account for a high rate, such as: colorectal cancer accounts for 9.3%, stomach cancer accounts for 9%, and esophageal cancer accounts for 2% of all cancers in Vietnam (2022 statistics from the National Cancer Institute).

Most diseases are detected at a late stage because patients often do not have regular health check-ups or gastrointestinal endoscopy when abnormal signs appear.

The “gold standard” of endoscopy

Digestive endoscopy is the gold standard in diagnosing and treating gastrointestinal diseases such as:

  • Polyps of the esophagus, stomach, colon.
  • Esophageal ulcers, stomach, duodenum.
  • Ulcerative colitis.
  • Treatment during endoscopy such as: polyp removal, foreign body removal, hemostasis, dilation of strictures, treatment of colon volvulus.
  • Early detection of dangerous gastrointestinal cancers such as: esophagus, stomach or colon.

It is important to know that gastrointestinal cancers can be completely cured if detected early in the early stages by endoscopy and timely treatment intervention.

Subjects who should have early gastrointestinal endoscopy

  • People aged 45 and over, with normal health.
  • People aged 40 and over, with family members suffering from malignant diseases of the stomach or colon.
  • People diagnosed with gastrointestinal diseases.
  • People with abnormal symptoms warning of gastrointestinal diseases: difficulty swallowing; abdominal pain, epigastric pain; frequent heartburn; nausea, vomiting blood; bloody stools; black, tarry stools with mucus; anemia of unknown cause.
